This module dives deeply into the acting techniques that Shim has been using since the age of five to craft every performance he’s ever done. He distills his lifetime of experience acting into a few “solid gold” bars of wisdom for musicians. This will help you:

(a) present your most authentic self in a relaxed way, and 

(b) be able to communicate a clear idea and emotion with your audience

This module breaks down, step-by-step, why your superpower is actually your ego and how you can tap into it to finally create that version of yourself on stage that you’ve been dreaming of.

This module breaks down the 3 languages which make up the larger “Language of Music”... and how to master each of these languages so you can “speak” deeply to your audience. 

This module reveals the secrets about actually being a rock (or pop or jazz or ____) star, that you will never find anywhere else on the planet. It blends:

(a) Shim’s training and experience as an actor

(b) Shim’s experience from a decade of touring the world

(c) everything Shim learned from the big bands he toured with, and 

(d) every technique he used to create a persona which earned him awards for being one of the best frontmen in the world

This module exists for one very good reason. When Shim asks his up-and-coming students, “What do you want your audience to feel?” they usually answer, “Gee, I don’t know. I hadn’t really thought about it. I was mostly thinking about my feelings and my performance and me, me, me.” And that’s valuable to a degree, but it’s really only half of the equation. 

The other half is: The audience is there because they want to feel. They don’t want to feel *your* emotions—that’s not possible. They want to feel *their* emotions. Your job is to create an environment and an experience where those feelings start to come up from within them. But you can’t create that environment and share it with your audience if you don’t understand your audience.

This module is a deep dive into a body language concept called “Animal Work.” Because in every single performance you’ve ever seen that left a deep impression on you — the performer was using a version of animal work that helped to engage you in that performance.
